Understanding search techniques

To search for two or more keywords as a phrase enclose these keywords in quotation marks. The keywords will be searched exactly as they are typed.

Phrase searching is especially useful when using a search engine.

You can combine phrase searching, wildcard and truncation with Boolean operators similar to the Nesting technique.

Examples:

  • "Prime Minister of Australia"

  • "Great Barrier Reef" AND conserv*

  • (organi?ation OR company OR business) AND "legal obligation"

  • "blood born pathogens" AND test*

  • Uluru OR "Ayers Rock"

  • "Fremantle Dockers" AND "Australian rules football"
