Understanding databases
Bibliographic or Full Text Databases can be:
Subject specific - concentrating on a particular topic such as nursing.
Multidisciplinary - indexing documents from a wide variety of topics.
The information can vary in:
Currency - some databases are updated daily, others quarterly.
Source - Australian or international.
The Library's Online databases page has a brief description of the coverage of each database. You can find further information from the Electronic Databases guide or one of the subject resource guides.
Tip: Some databases do not display correctly when viewed in certain browsers. Check the database's "Help" pages for details of the browsers for which it is designed.
