Use the techniques of outlining or mind mapping to take topic notes.
Structure your information as you would for an essay or report.
Keep a note of quotations, opinions, analysis of the topic to support your points.
Your presentation can be divided into three parts:
Introduction - introduce yourself, your topic and one interesting key point.
Content - four to five points that use examples, statistics, opinions to support your ideas.
Conclusion - summary of the main points.
Tip: Write your key points on cards and number them to help when presenting your talk and remember that you are speaking, not reading.
