Footnoting electronic sources - the first time

Websites

Include: author's first name and family name/surname, title of document, title of website, copyright date of website (usually on bottom of homepage), URL of document surrounded by < and >, type of access, production date of document (or n.d. if unknown), and date last accessed.

The footnote/endnote for the first time you cite a website would look like this:

1 Valerie Johnson, 'Guide to listing sources; 3. Oxford system', Victoria University of Technology, 2001,
<http://w2.vu.edu.au/library/infolink/webref/styles/files/oxford3.pdf> [online], November 12, 2001 (Retrieved June 28, 2004).

Journal article from an electronic database

Include: author's first name and family name/surname, title of article, title of journal, volume and issue number of journal, page numbers, year of publication, type of access, date last accessed, name of electronic database, and URL of database surrounded by < and >.

The footnote/endnote for the first time you cite an article from a database would look like this:

1 John McClenahen, 'Get ready for the next SARS', Industry Week, vol.252, no.8, p12, (2003), [online] (Retrieved October 25, 2003), [elibrary],
<http://elibrary.bigchalk.com/libweb/australia/do/search>

CD-ROM

Include: title of CD-ROM, place of publication, name of publisher, date of publication, and format (in square brackets).

The footnote/endnote for the first time you cite a CD-ROM would look like this:

1 East Timor: identity, resistance & dreams of return, (Richmond, Victoria, North Richmond Community Health Centre & the Timorese Association of Victoria, 1999), [CD-ROM].
